Unveiling a Bizarre Steam Demo: Controlling a Turdy Character with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and gamers have encountered numerous interesting independent titles. But, one stands out for its offbeat concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel jumping adventure lets you play a protagonist that is literally a dung striving to navigate to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is straightforward: you only need a jump control. Across one hundred fifty challenges, you'll face tough enemies and visit a shop to acquire skins for your dung hero.

Time your actions with caution, as a mistake requires beginning again. Jump off floating orbs to propel the poop higher, traverse fragile platforms, and activate switches to unlock new areas. Gather currency to purchase tougher levels where gameplay intensifies.

Graphically, the game features neon level designs and an amazing background music. Its minimalist visual style with shifting geometric shapes may remind players of old favorites like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to think of similar titles where you are a coiled turd, interactive entertainment often included fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players make grenades from protagonist droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as soil enrichment. And of course, such content shows up heavily in the South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous idea, Unko Technica has already garnered significant accolades, including winning at a major publisher's indie contest in 2023. The demo is ready now on Steam, with the complete version set to launch on computers this November.
